Welcome to the Local Good Food Nation Data Dashboard.

Over the past year, the Living Good Food Nation Lab’s Analytical Unit, and in particular Dr Megan Kutzer, has sourced, cleaned, analysed, and visualised publicly available data for the Good Food Nation indicators listed in the first National Good Food Nation Plan. We hope this work saves relevant authorities valuable time and resources.

We have designed, tested, and refined this open-access, web-hosted dashboard, with feedback from relevant authorities, to support users in quickly establishing baseline measures for each indicator in the first National Good Food Nation Plan. Where suitable data are available, this includes NHS Health Boards as well as Local Authorities. The dashboard also allows users to compare their own baselines with national averages and with those of other authorities.

All data used in the dashboard are publicly available, with the Analytical Unit carrying out the time-intensive work of sourcing, cleaning, and preparing them for use. The application also includes an HTML reporting function (PDFs will follow soon), which allows users to generate and download a report summarising their baseline values for each indicator. Full details of the data used, their sources, and how they can be accessed are provided within each section.

Where helpful, our Analytical Unit would be happy to meet with individual authorities or groups of authorities, either on Teams or in person, to discuss specific data questions. To arrange a follow-up meeting, please contact us at LivingGoodFoodNationLab@ed.ac.uk

We will continue to keep the dashboard up to date as new relevant datasets are released. We hope you find it easy to use, helpful for planning and decision-making, and a valuable resource as you begin developing your first Good Food Nation Plans. Please leave us feedback
